CSF Honored with Awards of Achievement

The Comcast-Spectacor Foundation (CSF) captured four awards of achievement at the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2011 Corporate Philanthropy Awards Ceremony. CSF earned 2nd place awards for Top Community Impact, Top Volunteer Donor, Top In-Kind Donor, and was recognized as one of the Top 25 Most Charitable Gives (22nd out of 25th). For Flyers fans and 76ers fans the fundraising events organized by the CSF present a smorgasbord of must-have souvenirs. For example, this season fans got the chance to buy Sixers guard Jrue Holiday’s autographed, game-worn sneakers from the NBA All-Star Weekend. A lucky fan snatched up an autographed, vintage Bernie Parent jersey for $3,500 in the Flyers annual stick auction. Hundreds of game tickets, autographed jerseys, hockey sticks and other memorabilia are donated throughout the year to help in fundraising efforts. Fans also get a crack each year at rarer stuff, like the pink hockey sticks that players used in practice and donated for auctions during breast cancer month. Sixers’ players contributed some of their cherished possessions — such as autographed game-worn jerseys, Holiday’s sneakers and Elton Brand’s Apple iPad — to “Players Favorites Things” baskets that were auctioned off. Special auction items also pop up at the arena’s charity kiosk on the main concourse, too, such as Coach Peter Laviolette’s orange ties worn during the each of the Flyers Playoff games. These fundraising endeavors enables the CSF continues to assisted hundreds of nonprofit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia Region.  If it matters to Philadelphia, it’s important to Comcast-Spectacor!
